PlayStation Asia is celebrating the Lunar New Year with more than just a discount campaign.
The Year Of Play campaign does include the usual price discounts on PS peripherals and games, but there are two competitions worth thousands of Ringgit Malaysia being given away.
The first event is “The Year Of Play – Purchase PS5 Now for More Reward”. As the name implies, the campaign is to get folks to buy a PS5 or PS5 Digital edition with a local warranty (not import set).
Here’s how it works:
- Campaign period: January 10 – February 28
- During the campaign period, participants have to purchase a PS5 or PS5 Digital version with local one-year warranty label affixed on package from a retail or online retail store
- Then activate the console with internet connection and log in to PlayStation Network (PSN) account during the campaign period
- Complete the entry form which is located at the campaign website with PSN account logged in. The PS5 model and serial number will be required to provide. Each serial number and PSN ID can only be used once
- Winners will be selected based on best answer submitted
- Campaign Period: January 10 – February 28, 2023
- Prizes
- Grand Prize – 10 winners will be entitled to ALL IT eGift Card MYR 4,500
- Second Prize – 40 winners will be entitled to Touch ‘n Go eWallet Reload PINs MYR 2,250
- Third Prize – 100 winners will be entitled to PlayStation Store Gift Card MYR 450
- Winners are announced on the campaign website here from March 22
A side note: This is the first time the PS5 is featured in any promo campaign since its launch in November 2020. PS5 stocks are limited due to the supply chain issues in the past few years (a knock-on effect from the Covid-19 pandemic). But to see PS Asia pulling this campaign to get folks to get on the current gen of consoles is a positive sign of PS5s being more stocked on this side of the world.
The other campaign is “The Year of Play – Good Wish Hunting”. This does not necessarily require any purchase, but it’s a treasure hunt held on the PS Store, accessed from a PS4 or PS5 console. The big prizes do require you to be a big spender, though.
Here’s how it works:
- Campaign period: January 22 – February 5
- Visit PS Store on PS4 or PS5. Login to PSN account or create one in order to participate.
- Go for a hunt on PS Store on PS4 or PS5. Download at least 1 Good Wish satchel to win Participation Prize or collect all 5 to win more prizes
- Prize:
- Grand Prize (Top 10 players with highest accumulated spending + completed all 5 Good Wish satchels)
- Sony BRAVIA TV KD-55X80K
- DualSense Wireless Controller (Midnight Black)
- PULSE 3D Wireless Headset (Midnight Black)
- DualSense Charging Station
- PS5 Console Cover (Midnight Black)
- Media Remote
- Completion Prize (First 100): PS Store Gift Card worth MYR 100
- Completion Prize: 10% in-cart discount coupon on PS Store
- Participation Prize (find at least 1 Good Wish satchel): full set of Lunar New Year PS4/PS5 Avatars
