People Can Fly Will Be Patching The Outriders Demo

Now here’s something we don’t see everyday. A demo getting a patch. But it makes sense for Outriders to get one.

People Can Fly posted an update about the Outriders demo, now that it’s a week since its release. 2 million players gave it a go, and the developers are aware of some issues they will be addressing, some of which will see be implemented on the demo.

The patch for the demo will likely arrive next week. Some of the major changes include the following:

  • uncapped framerate for cutscenes
  • motion blur toggle for all platforms
  • improved subtitle display and sync during “Bad Day” quest (PC)
  • fixed bug on audio desync in cutscenes (PS4,PS5)

There are also server-side fixes as well. That will change some things which include:

  • The Captain’s “Healing Light” ability effectiveness reduced
  • The Captain’s “From the Ashes” and “Phoenix Aura” cooldown increased
  • Gauss gets more health points on repeat playthroughs
  • changes to loot drops so you only farm higher rarity gear from quests (even on repeat runs)

The developers are also aware of various other issues. This includes the camera shaking effect during cutscenes, the cover system not being as robust, items disappearing and cheating issues.

You can peruse the full update note (and full patch notes) as posted on Reddit here, which is worth a read.

It speaks of great goodwill that People Can Fly wanted to even update a game demo. Considering this will remain available even after the game’s release, it makes sense for them to continue to present the best impressions for anyone trying it out.

The demo did impressed us and is definitely worth giving a shot if you’re curious about the upcoming looter-shooter. Or just to see if the odd short cut-scenes for level transitions bugs you or not.

Outriders will be released on April 1 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Stadia.
