Grinding Gear Games announced that its first content update for ARPG Path Of Exile 2 will be dropping this week. Titled Dawn Of The Hunt, the update bring a whole new class in the form of The Huntress, new Ascendency classes for three existing classes, new skills, new support gems, new unique items and more.
There’s a lot of content, which should explain why it took about four months since the Early Access release for a new content drop to drop.
The Huntress class is the first range-melee hybrid class in Path Of Exile 2. She can throw spears at range, or poke enemies to death up close. But with her buckler on the off-hand, she can parry attacks and follow it up with back-leap to safely disengage and return to throwing spears at range.
That’s right, a parry.
Though it doesn’t work like a action-game parry for obvious reasons (there’s way too many enemies and not enough visual clarity to time a perfect parry). You automatically deflect attacks, but the real key to the move is how you follow it up. She can do bursts, area-of-effect attacks, and other cool stuff that kills hordes after disengaging.
The Huntress includes two Ascendency classes: The Ritualist and The Amazon.
In addition, three new Ascendency classes are added to the following classes:
- Warrior: The Smith Of Kitava
- Mercenary: The Tactician
- Witch: The Lich
In addition to just new classes and loot, the endgame content has been revamped with seven new maps and there’s also Rogue Exiles encounters.
Rogue Exiles are AI enemies but with the moveset (and gear) as an Exile like you. In the press preview event we attended, Grinding Gear Games described these Rogue Exiles as one of the most complicated AIs they’ve made, they can dodge-roll even. They’re not based on any of the developer’s own player characters, rather they are unique characters on their own right. And they do drop new uniques, so there’s a good reason to engage in these pseudo-PVP battles.
There’s more content that just that, more info can be found on the game’s site here.
Path Of Exile 2 Dawn Of The Hunt update goes live on April 4. The game is out now in Early Access on PC and consoles.
