Overwatch League- Team EnVyUs Will Compete As Dallas Fuel
The second franchise name of the 12 teams in the Overwatch League has been announced. NetEase was the first to announce theirs, which is the Shanghai Dragons. Team EnVyUs, one of the last announced to secure a spot in the inaugural season of Blizzard’s new esports league will be competing under the name of Dallas Fuel.
Team Envy recently has recently received investments from the Hersh Interactive Group, owned by Kenneth Hersh. Hersh is known for his endeavours in the oil and gas industry and with , Texas being one of the leading oil-producing state in the US, it makes sense why the name was chosen.
“In choosing a name, we wanted to speak to our Texas roots, connect with the legacy of our partners Ken Hersh and the Hersh Interactive Group, and provide a rallying cry for local fans as esports continues to grow,” said Mike “Hastr0” Rufail, CEO of Team Envy.
“Fuel accomplishes that, and the Dallas Fuel is a team we’re proud to permanently plant in Texas.”
The boys in blue will retain their traditional colours, sporting blue, gray and black as their main colour schemes.
Envy houses arguably the best Overwatch roster in North America, with many of its players been together since the days of closed beta. It is yet to be confirmed whether all the players will make the jump to Dallas Fuel, but they have so confirmed one player in the form of Brandon “Seagull” Larned, formerly of NRG Esports.
