Outriders has gotten through a rough launch, but the promised first post-launch update has made some good progress in keeping the looter-shooter stable.
For one, there are less crashing happening now with the new update, and cross-play between PC and console players work as intended too. Barring some lag spikes, playing with a PC player, another player on Xbox Series S and another on PS5 has been working well, from what we tested.
However, the reports of players suffering from inventory wipes are still rampant. There’s a bug in Outriders where you would lose all of your loot- yes even the rare Legendary drops. The developers at People Can Fly have updated that they have implemented server-side updates to try and keep this from not happening, and a new game update will be coming as well to hopefully fix this issue.
For those affected by the inventory wipe, the developers are working on a mass restoration to bring back the lost items (though not exactly with the same stats and only for purple and gold colour loot, which is a big bummer).
Making games to be online-only is hard, and will continue to be a deal-breaker for a lot of players if launch problems like Outriders continue to be the norm. Losing all your hard-earned loot in a looter-shooter is a big no-no.
Should you wait it out after all of the technical issues have been fixed, however, Outriders is a fun non-conventional looter-shooter. You can check out our review here.
