Playstation Experience (PSX) is the fans-centric event where attendees get to play the latest and upcoming games, with various esports tournaments sharing the space. It also has a big keynote with some bombshells announcements. PSX 2016 was the year we saw The Last Of Us Part II, Marvel VS Capcom Infinite and Uncharted The Lost Legacy got announced with fan fervour.
But it won’t be happening this year. Shawn Layden, Playstation’s Worldwide Studios Chairman, confirms that it will be skipping 2018. “For 2018, I know this is going to be a disappointment to some people, but we decided to not hold PlayStation Experience this year,” he said in the recent Playstation Blogcast.
It is sort of expected. Capcom Cup, the climax of the Capcom Pro Tour for Street Fighter V usually held in tandem with PSX, has a new venue at Las Vegas this time around.
That means that PSX SEA 2018, held in Bangkok, Thailand back in August, is the sole PSX event this year. PSX SEA focuses on bringing the E3 experience to Southeast Asia gamers, where most of the games on show are using the preview builds from E3.
