No Gran Turismo 7 Content Update For January 2023

The news is there is no news. Gran Turismo 7 has been consistently releasing free content updates once a month since its launch in March last year. January 2023 is the first month the racing game skips an update.

This is likely to accommodate the work needed for GT7 to support PS VR2. The game is a launch title for the new VR headset, only compatible with PS5. Owners of GT7 will get a free upgrade for the PS VR2 version.

Gran Turismo 7 has been steadily adding new cars (around 30) and tracks (2 all-new locations plus a few additional track layouts) in its post-launch updates. It had a rocky start, where game servers went offline longer than expected, rendering players unable to play most of the game due to saves being tied to the servers (you can’t play the whole game offline- you only get access to the Music Rally mode).

But since then, the update rollout have been controversy-less. Several issues like the lack of feature to sell cars have been addressed, though there are still others lingering still. The online lobby still isn’t as robust as what players expected, and grinding for credits is still dull as there’s only a handful (three) of races with a decent payout as car prices in the Legendary Autos store remains exorbiant.

Still, such issues haven’t stopped us at Gamer Matters calling Gran Turismo 7 the second-best game of 2022. You can check out our original review of GT7 here.
