Destinybit, the developers behind city-builder Dice Legacy, takes a new turn with the reveal of the latest game, Nitro Gen Omega.
It’s described as a “spaghetti anime” tactical RPG with mech battles, team management and sandbox RPG elements.
The “spaghetti anime” moniker is a reference to the developers being based in Italy, and this is their take on the anime aesthetic, similar to how “Spaghetti Western” refers to cowboy-themed movies produced in Italy.
Nitro Gen Omega’s trailer looks slick, and it’s impressive to see everything is gameplay footage. Some of the shots can pass off as clips from a shonen anime.
In Nitro Gen Omega, humanity has lost against the machines, and as commander of a mercenary crew, you’ll be taking on contracts from the few remaining outposts left on the world. To do so, you will need to build mechs, build a team of mech pilots, foster their bond as you travel the world via airship. You are free to explore the world, inspired by Battle Brothers. And the team building aspects is inspired by Fire Emblem.
The turn-based combat in these mech battles feature a timeline system, a glimpse of it can be see in the trailer. It’s no Phantom Brigade, but it should still be an interest take on a turn-based battle system.

Nitro Gen Omega can be played solo, but the more interesting feature is how it also supports online play. When online, you play in a persistent world where every character is procedurally generated and permadeath is on.
Nitro Gen Omega is set for release sometime in 2025 on PC (Steam).
4Divinity is collaborating with the developer to promote the game here in Asia.
