Team Ninja’s latest action game Nioh has sold 2 million copies, the developers announced. Announced back in 2004 as a PS3 exclusive, it was only released on PS4 in 2017 with a PC version launched later that year.

Nioh takes cues from the soulslike formula- formidable opponents, punishing combat, souls collection- but gives it a different twist thanks to the stance-based combat. The sales numbers should be an achievement Team Ninja should be proud of, given the tumultuous development it had over the years.
Team Ninja’s latest game was Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, the 3-on-3 fighting game that had mixed reception. The studio is known for Ninja Gaiden and the Dead Or Alive series.
