Nintendo Now Has An Official Website For Singapore

Looks like Nintendo is finally rolling out an official presence here in Southeast Asia, beginning with Singapore.

The video game console maker and publisher only had limited presence in SEA by way of official distributor Maxsoft, but now there is a website (as well as a YouTube channel).

As spotted by local YouTuber (and friend of the site) The Kampung Nerd, Maxsoft’s Twitter shared a link to the official Nintendo website, dedicated to sharing info and support for players in Singapore.

The support pages have also been adjusted for the region. In the page explaining software purchases, the page indicates that the region does not have Nintendo eShop support yet, and includes IMDA Ratings, Singapore’s media classification similar to the US’ ESRB and Europe’s PEGI systems.

Since there’s no regional eShop yet, all the games listed on the official site links to the official Nintendo Singapore Shopee page.

There’s also a YouTube channel for Nintendo Singapore, found here. So far all of the uploads are a mix of old and new trailers for Switch games.

What does any of this mean? It’s a step forward in Nintendo officially recognising the Southeast Asia market here. Despite not having any official presence, Switch and Switch games are selling a lot in this part of the world.

Of the big three console makers right now, only Sony has established proper support for the SEA market. Microsoft, on the other hand, has yet to expand its Xbox presence beyond Singapore despite current efforts to reach out to more folks in the region.
