Bandai Namco has revealed what to expect for Season 2 of Tekken 8 for Spring and Summer (up to August). And there’s plenty of content, some being rather unexpected ones.
A new patch, version 2.01 just dropped today with one new feature: Tekken Ghost Showdown. An enhancement of Ghost Battles, this mode allows you spar with your Ghost from the Battle Lounge, toggle AI learning on and off, even delete the Ghost entirely to start anew.
Version 2.02 will arrive on June 3 and adds… a collaboration with Karate Kid? To promote the upcoming movie Karate Kid Legends, there will be a free Karate Kid Legends hoodie cosmetic, seen in the trailer worn by Jin and Leroy, while the Urban Square stage will be taken over with Karate Kid Legend posters emblazen on all the not-Times Square ad billboards.
Version 2.03, targeting a summer (July-August) release will add a Pac-Man collaboration. There will be free Pac-Man themed cosmetics available for free as part of the Fight Pass (free tier battle pass). And a new paid stage, Pac-Pixels will be available for purchase. It’s also part of the Season 2 Pass.
And this is also when a new character will arrive: Fahkumram. The menacing Thai man that might as well be a machine by the way he gets airdropped into a stage encased in a metal enclosure is back after his first appearance as the final Tekken 7 DLC character. At the moment, all of the Tekken 7 debutants outside of Josie Rizal, Lucky Chloe and Final Fantasy XV’s Noctis have returned. Though we did get Final Fantasy XVI’s Clive instead of Noct.
Fahkumram doesn’t seem to be much of a popular character, judging by the sentiment of the fighting game community on his return here. And the state of the game is also not vibing with the folks who play a lot of Tekken 8.
There’s still two more DLC characters to come, one returning character for Autumn (September-November) and a “new challenger” in Winter (December-February 2026). So there are more opportunities for the Tekken Project team to turn around the reception of what we felt like an extremely solid fighting game at launch, from a perspective of a casual fighting game player.
Tekken 8 is out now on PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
