New Info On What To Expect On New Shadow Campaign In Sonic X Shadow Generations

Sega has given a glimpse of what to expect of Sonic X Shadow Generations, the new release of Sonic Generations which includes an all-new campaign starring Shadow The Hedgehog.

The new campaign, titled Shadow Generations, will see players control the ultimate lifeform. Shadow’s nemesis, the Black Doom, is back and Shadow must glide-skate his way to the Space Colony Ark to stop a sinister threat.

If this seems reminiscent of Sonic Adventure 2 or Shadow The Hedgehog (the 2005) game, that’s because it is an intentional callback. Expect a particular boss to make a comeback as well.

Shadow has new powers to make use of in this campaign, though none of them being guns as seen in Shadow The Hedgehog. Rather, Shadow can use Chaos Control (move so fast that visually it’s like time has stopped, allowing access to hidden routes), Chaos Spear (throw a spear-esque energy bolt on enemies and other interactable mechanisms) and a whole new set of powers called Doom Powers. This allows Shadow to take on hordes of enemies, fly and even surf on water.

The Sonic Generations campaign of Sonic X Shadow Generations is the same one from the original 2011 game, released for 6th-gen consoles and PC. Two Sonics from different generations collide and must restore the timeline and save their friends.

Modern Sonic plays like the high-speed 3D platformers as pioneered in Sonic Adventures, whereas Classic Sonic, complete with more rounded appearance from his Sega Genesis and Sega Saturn days, plays like a retro 2D Sonic game.

For this new release, the visuals and cinematics from the original Sonic Generations have been retouched.

The first prints of the physical editions of Sonic X Shadow Generations include a sticker based on the logo of the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog 3 movie.

Sonic X Shadow Generations will be out on October 25 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The Xbox and PC versions are only available digitally.
