New Broken Sword Game Announced Alongside 4K Remaster Of The Original

Revolution Software announced two new games in the works, and both are part of the Broken Sword series.

The first is an all-new entry titled Broken Sword Parzival’s Stone. The sixth mainline game will see George Storbart and Nicole Collard back on a new globetrotting adventure as they uncover a conspiracy that involves quantum physics, medieval history and… Nazi treasure hunters.

Broken Sword Parzival’s Stone is calling its new visual style “Super 2D” which from the announcement trailer, produced some gorgeous landscapes. The same is not to be said about George and Nico though, but the footage seen here is pre-alpha, so hopefully the animations can be smoothen out.

Revolution is also remastering the first Broken Sword game, Broken Sword Shadow of the Templars, to 4K resolution. This meant the developer team have redrawn and recreated all the 2D sprites and hand-drawn artwork to a higher resolution.

Broken Sword Shadow of the Templars: Reforged sees the first adventure of George as he ends up in a global adventure after clown bombs a bistro he was just outside of, which will take him and Nico from Paris to all parts of the world.

Broken Sword is a series of adventure games, most of them being a point-and-click affair, as players figure out puzzles and discover mysteries.

It’s a fun romp and an anomaly in a sea of action-adventure games where the emphasis is on action, and modern adventure games evolve into cinematic, narrative experiences that cut out the puzzle-solving aspects. Which is understandable. How many folks figured out how to get past that bloody goat in Broken Sword?

All of the Broken Sword games are designed to be standalone adventures, so if you’re a new fan, you can pick up either Parzival’s Stone or Shadow of the Templars: Reforged and still follow along the story and figure out how to solve various puzzles.

Broken Sword Shadow of the Templars: Reforged is releasing on consoles, PC and mobile in early 2024. Broken Sword Parzival’s Stone will release later with no release window stated yet.
