Metaphor: ReFantazio Sales Pass 2 Million Copies

Atlus and Studio Zero’s RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio has sold more than 2 million copies worldwide.

One of the best games of 2024, the new game by the new team led by veterans of the Persona series had a strong start with a million copies sold in the week of launch, but it did take some time before it double that milestone.

To celebrate, a new artwork by character designer Shigenori Soejima thanking fans for the support.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is a turn-based RPG set in a tumultuous time where the United Kingdom of Euchronia has lost its reigning monarch and now must crown a new one… through a democratic process as decree by the late king. The protagonist competes in this political race with another goal in mind, to save his friend the prince, cursed by a mysterious ailment. With the help of friends and allies, you traverse this new world, filled with allegories of timely real-world issues, and Atlus’ take on a job system, Archetypes.

If you have played Metaphor yet, the demo is still available. If you plan on playing on PS4 or PS5, the game’s currently 40% off until August 13.

It will still be a long while until a new numbered Persona game would ever emerge, there’s no official announcement of one being in the works yet. But Metaphor still has some of Persona’s charms that may or may not fill that void in your heart, if you haven’t checked this out yet.
