When Koei Tecmo announced Dead Or Alive 6 Last Round, a new updated version of the 3D fighting game, it was mentioned that previously DLC characters Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond won’t be included.
So it’s partly good news that the two guest characters representing SNK’s King Of Fighters XIV will be in Dead Or Alive 6 Last Round after all, albeit as paid DLC.
Mai and Kula did launch as paid DLC in the original DOA6, and it looks like the two are the only outliers from the other DLC characters who will be included as base game additions for DOA6 LR. Given their guest character status (and how we don’t know how the licensing deals for the collabs work), at least having them available as a separate purchase is a good enough compromise rather than the two being left behind in what sets to be definitive version of DOA6.
Mai and Kula Diamond can be purchased ala carte via Character Unlock Keys. There will be 5 additional costumes for each character as well. DLC purchases from DOA6 cannot be carried over to DOA6 LR, so even if you own them in the original, you’ll have to buy these again.
The KOFXIV character DLCs will be available on the launch of DOA6 LR.
(On a tangential note, it’s wild to see how the two characters are labelled as from KOFXIV given that there is already a KOF XV since, but it’s just that long since the release of the original DOA6, it was in 2019.)
Dead Or Alive 6 Last Round will launch on June 25 for the PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S. A new entry in the series is also in the works.
