Looks like Lego will be continuing the Lego Super Mario line for 2021 as they have announced a new set starring Mario’s good brother, Luigi.
The Lego Super Mario set is both a Lego construction brick toy and also a video game of sorts, blending a mobile app experience where you physically construct your own Super Mario courses and then play through them like a video game level. With timers, scores and appropriate sound effects. Super Mario Maker in the physical form, in short.
For 2021, Lego will be bringing in the Luigi Starter Course. Just like the Mario Starter Course, this will include a main figure that powers the play experience, in this case it’s Luigi, and can be used on all Super Mario sets- including from last year’s run.
The brick-shaped Luigi is similar to Mario in terms of features (LCD screen, colour sensor, speaker), though he is (only slightly) taller than his brother. One Lego plate taller, to be precise.
The Luigi Starter Course set also includes Pink Yoshi, Boom Boom and Bone Goomba. It will also add brown-coloured bricks for the new Tower biome, so expect a new sound effect for when you pretend-run and pretend-jump Luigi through the bricks. The set will contain 280 pieces.
