Legend of Zelda Delayed, NX revealed!

What a day for fans of Nintendo, there is plenty to be excited/angry about today!

First off, news come via the official Twitter account for Nintendo, The Legend of Zelda Wii U has now been delayed to 2017.

Translation:

“Though originally scheduled for 2016, the release of the latest “The Legend of Zelda” title is postponed until 2017, to allow further improvement of quality. Thank you for your understanding.”

Hmm. suspicious you say? This is not exactly breaking news, considering we have been hearing rumours about The Legend of Zelda being released simultaneously for both Wii U and the NX.

Zelda

Unless you can read Kanji, the tweet goes on to CONFIRM the existence of an NX version of the game, stating that “An NX version is also currently in development, to release simultaneously with the Wii U version.” Rumours confirmed.

We just need to know when the NX will release, with murmurs saying that 2016 will see Nintendo’s next console making its debut. The Big N is certainly in a generous mood today, as we now have confirmation,

that the NX will come March 2017, globally.

The company’s financial results included the following:

“For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed “NX” with a brand-new concept, NX will be launched in March 2017 globally.”

Nintendo further clarified that the NX “will not make an appearance at the upcoming E3 video game trade show in Los Angeles in June and will be unveiled later this year.”

With their focus firmly on the two versions of the next entry in the Zelda series, we should realistically expect to see the NX at another event this year, maybe a Nintendo Direct? Another tidbit is that “the Wii U version of the game will be playable for the first time on the E3 show floor, and it will be the only playable game Nintendo presents at the show, in order to provide attendees a complete immersion. Additional information about Nintendo’s E3 plans will be announced in the future.”

So much news, you want more? They’ll give you more!

Via a press release, Nintendo stated that both Fire Emblem and the Animal Crossing series will be coming to smartphones in the future:

“Nintendo plans to release both of these applications this fall (US, UK) and spring (AU). As for the former app, while making it more accessible in comparison to the Fire Emblem games for Nintendo’s dedicated gaming systems, Nintendo aims to offer the great value of a role-playing strategy game. Nintendo will design the latter game so that it will be connected with the world of Animal Crossing for dedicated gaming systems. By playing both Animal Crossing games, users will find increased enjoyment. Both of these are pure game applications. Compared to Miitomo, they have more prominent game elements, and the game content will tie closely into Nintendo’s dedicated games business. Nintendo will provide more details about these applications closer to their launch period, and aims to have multiple types of apps that appeal to different audiences and different groups of players.”

Fire Emblem AC

Considering the success of their social network Miitomo, similar numbers for the games will surely bring much joy to their investors and creators, I can’t wait to see what comes out next!

Whew, what a day for the Nintendo loving crowd, just a little while more guys, and we will have another new console!
