Latest Wreckfest Update Brings Back Next Car Game Tech Demo Map

Wreckfest is updated again with a throwback to 2013. Back when Bugbear’s banger racer was just called Next Car Game, the developers released a tech demo map to showcase the damage physics.

That map, which includes the giant enemy spider is now fully textured and available in Wreckfest proper. The Wrecking Playground, as it is now called, is the new free track for this Tournament update. And for the first time, console players get to try it out too.

Expect spring boards, hammers, a giant enemy spider, and also a gigantic pachinko slot machine where the car (or whatever is left remaining of it) is the ball.

The new Tournament isn’t about racing, but you go about the Wrecking Playground and rack up scores by destroying your car. The reward car for this Tournament is the return of the car from the tech demo- a Speedbird with the Next Car Game livery.

The update also improves the anti-aliasing and performance on the PS5 version.
