Bugbear and THQ Nordic’s banger racing game Wreckfest is coming to PS5 soon (and to PS Plus for PS5 players sooner). A new trailer has revealed all the new features for the the game when the PS5 version is released.
It’s really short, and it fits to all of the video’s description:
Those features are:
- 60 FPS
- 4K Resolution
- Faster Loading Times
- Enhanced Lighting
- Improved Visual Effects
- 24 Player Multiplayer
- Controller Haptic Feedback
60fps at 4K resolution, as well as faster loading and haptic feedback, is the usual PS5 enhancements you would expect. The one minor improvement is the 24-player lobbies for multiplayer, making it in parity with the PC release. The last-gen versions are capped to 16, by comparison.
Wreckfest will arrive on PS5 on June 1. It will also arrive as a free PS Plus game for the month of May 2021, and it’s only for PS5. As we pointed out before, this means that PS5 players will be playing the PS4-back compat version when the game becomes available on PS Plus, as the PS5 release is coming the month after.
UPDATE: As Gamespot reported, the PS5 version of Wreckfest will a PS Plus exclusive, releasing on May 4 until June 1, when everyone can purchase it. The trailer, as hosted on the PlayStation YouTube channel, did not make any of this point clear.
If you prefer Destruction AllStars to be stripped of its on-foot gimmicks and just be a racing game with destructible cars like the old Destruction Derby games, Wreckfest should satisfy that itch.
