Kasso Is Getting A Video Game, But It’s An Endless Runner

TBS Television Inc. announced it’s publishing a game based on Kasso, the TV show where skateboarders compete in doing sick stunts that’s basically Takeshi’s Castle (which TBS produced) but for skaters.

The game, Kasso Gaiden: Escape From The Skaterverse, however, won’t be anything like that TV show with over 3 million views on YouTube (with English subtitles available). Developed by Now Production, Escape From The Skaterverse is an endless runner, a Subway Surfers-like if you will, where you keep on skating while dodging dangers and pits.

There is a twist. Kasso Gaiden: Escape From The Skaterverse also has a rhythm game feel to it. There are sound notes along the endless (rhythm) highway that appears on-beat to the level’s soundtrack, so you can play it musically for a bit of a change of pace.

You can pull tricks, unlock over 43 boards, and get to see more of Kasso’s original branding: the street style graphic you see here are part of the branding as seen on the show as well as pop-up events around the world. Kasso will host an event at Long Beach, California, USA on March 21 which will see a Kasso obstacle course built for the brave and bold skaters to try and conquer.

Kasso Gaiden: Escape From The Skaterverse is out now on  iOS and Android.

But if you haven’t check out Kasso the show yet, you absolutely should. There are three seasons so far featuring local Japanese talents and newer seasons also brought in female skaters and even international stars to go on a downhill jam of an obstacle course, make a futile attempt to grind a long, twisty rail where a pool of water resides and even more ludicrous set-pieces that would make you want a video game where these stunts are super hard to pull off.
