Ahead of its launch tomorrow, AMD just announced that they are cutting down the price for the AMD Radeon 5700 series of GPUs. These are the new Navi-based GPUs, under the new RDNA architecture.
The Radeon RX 5700 is now priced at $349 USD- it was $379 beforehand. The higher-end Radeon RX 5700 XT is now $399 USD- $449 before.
The pricing translates to RM 1,659 and RM 1,859 respectively.
This is a return fire to the recently released Nvidia RTX Super series GPUs. In the official statement on the price cut, AMD has this to say on the matter:
“AMD is focused on providing gamers with amazing experiences and access to the very best gaming technology at attractive price points.
“As you have seen, competition is heating up in the GPU market. We embrace competition, which drives innovation to the benefit of gamers.”
AMD’s RX 5700 was poised to have a better graphical performance with the Nvidia RTX 2060- a point they hammered down during their E3 2019 press conference. Though the price cut of the RX 57000 now puts it comparable to the Nvidia RTX 2060 Super, price-wise. In USD at least.
Still, it’s a good move on AMD to respond to the competition. As long as these companies are competing to make better graphics card, it is us consumers that win at the end of the day.
The AMD Radeon RX 5700 and Radeon RX 5700 XT will be available for purchase tomorrow, July 7th.
