Horror Game Soma Adding “Safe Mode”, Removing Horror Gameplay

Soma has a pretty good story. But like most games made by Frictional Games- the makers of Penumbra and Amnesia series, it is a first-person horror game where you cannot fight back directly.

But what if you can experience the game’s story without the fear (or hassle) of the horror encounters? As such, Soma is introducing “Safe Mode” where all such encounters are removed.

This mode will be available on the newly announced Xbox One version (coming December 1) and on PC first, with an update for the PS4 coming later.

It may seem odd that the developers would remove what many would see as an integral part of the game- horror gameplay- but if the developers believed the game is still worth experiencing without them, maybe it is not as integral as many believed.

The story themes are certainly worth checking out, and if you’re too scared or cannot be bothered with hiding from…things, now you can do so.
