Earlier today, Sony unveils its first Nintendo Direct-esque livestream to reveal new games announcements. State Of Play, as it’s called, follows really close to the Direct formula.
While the first show didn’t have a ton of big game announcements if you don’t have a PS VR, it’s a good format to have. Here we run down all the game announcements revealed at State Of Play for March 25th.
Iron Man VR
There is a new Iron Man game in the works, but for VR. Developed by Camoflaj with support by Sony Worldwide Studios and Marvel Games, it will be out this year. The trailer looks nothing remarkable, but hey you get to fly like Iron Man and shoot stuff.
Exclusive To PS4: Low-poly PS1 skins for Crash Team Racing
Retro low-poly skins are all the rage these days, huh? Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, the remake of Crash Team Racing first released in 1999, will have low-poly skins to evoke the aesthetic of the arcade kart racer back then. This is exclusively available on the PS4 version.
The trailer also show a bit of 4-player split-screen multiplayer.
No Man’s Sky Beyond’s Second Big Feature: VR Support
No Man’s Sky Beyond is this year’s free update for the procedural adventure game that was too hyped up at launch. Alongside a bigger multiplayer space with No Man’s Sky Online, the second big feature of three is VR support.
While the State Of Play showcase confirms that it is available on PS VR, it also will be available on Steam VR. This is not a separate mode, rather, the whole game is playable in VR, alongside non-VR players. The update will arrive sometime this summer, as early as June.
Ready Set Heroes
The first new game announcement. Developed by Robot Entertainment with support by Sony Worldwide Studios, this is a competitive dungeon crawling game with support for couch and online multiplayer up to four players. Defeat foes, collect loot and then by the end of the level, duke it out among you and see who is the champion.
It will be out sometime this year on PS4.
Blood & Truth
From the developer of the London Heist VR experience, London Studio is expanding that idea into a full VR game. It’s action-packed and filled with British voice-overs.
And we now have a date: May 28th exclusively on PS VR.
PS VR Sizzle Reel
A bunch more PS VR games, all with release dates. Here they are:
- Mini-Mech Mayhem: June 18th
- Jupiter & Mars: April 22nd
- Falcon Age: April 9th
- Trover Saves The Universe: May 31st
- Everybody’s Golf VR: May 21st

Observation
Devolver Digital’s sci-fi thriller. No Code, developers of horror anthology game Stories Untold is at the helm of this eerie-looking game.
A release date was announced, and it will be out on May 21st.
Five Nights At Freddy’s VR: Help Wanted
Get your animatronic jumpscares in VR. What’s more to add? It will be out this Spring, sometime before late June.
Concrete Genie
First revealed at Paris Games Show 2017, this new adventure game by PixelOpus has gone quiet for some time. Now we have a new trailer where we see Ash getting picked on big kids (PSA: don’t bully people that’s mean). It also shows more of the painting ability where Ash can draw on walls and see it light up the gloomy town.
A PS VR mode will also be avaialble.
Concrete Genie will be out sometime in Fall this year, so late September at the earliest.
Days Gone
As we gear up closer to the American Mat Rempit Simulator release, another new trailer for Days Gone dropped. This time it’s for the story. Deacon gets more character moments, and a lot of people calling him Dick. Or Deac, rather.
Days Gone will be out on April 26th.
Mortal Kombat 11
To end the show, a new trailer for Mortal Kombat 11 pops up, to the tune of old school rap by Ice Cube’s Check Yo Self and Vince Staple’s Blue Suede. The fighting game will see time travel and some cross-generation of characters. Like new Jax meeting old Jax.
Along with Jax, Liu Kang and Kung Lao are revealed to be in the roster of playable characters.
MK 11 will be out on April 23rd.
As we mentioned earlier, the first State Of Play features not too big of announcments, but it’s a good start to a tried and tested format. There will be more State Of Play shows throughout the year so watch this space as we get the lowdown on them as they drop.
