The fascinating “4X-style” strategy RPG Heart Of The Machine is ready to leave Early Access in two weeks, announced publisher Hooded Horse and developer Arcen Games.
The game where you play as the world’s first sentient AI allows you to do some wild things, from raising an army or robots to weaponise bees, and from exploring the constellation of stars to be a benevolent ruler. Or kick off World War 4. Heart Of The Machine’s storytelling can branch in very different directions. Though no mention of an aftermath where you, the sentient AI subjugate humans to endless content slop i.e. the boring yet real future trajectory of our current reality.
Heart Of The Machine version 1.0 will include a new ending with four different variants, including total domination where players can take over the whole city. Chapter 5 of this five chapter story-focused strategy game will take you into very wild and diverging paths, based on what you did previously in proceeding chapters.
It’s a long list of additions and fixes that’s part of the Heart Of The Machine’s version 1.0 patch notes. Apparently it has about 148,000 words. Highlights includes:
- Fixed Overly Paranoid Clocks
- Canneries no longer stop functioning when too many bodies stack up
- More numerous spiders
- Enemies more punctual when attacking you for revenge
- Police cruisers no longer afraid of gang members
- “Don’t worry, kids still get trapped in your basement”
- Sleep no longer criminal
- My tiny murders were blending in too much
Also, parkour bears? Also, you can pet dogs.
If those out-of-context patch notes has your eyebrows raised, Heart Of The Machine launches on March 5 on PC (Steam).
