Windjammers is a cult-favourite game for the Neo Geo about throwing frisbees in a one-on-one match. Somehow, it got a modern re-release. And now, we got a sequel.
Windjammers 2 first revealed with an animated short, fit from the 80’s. And now we got a look at how gameplay will look like. Surprise surprise, it looks like Windjammers, but the sprites are gone and in comes new, Saturday cartoon-style aesthetics.
But there are some changes. Now you can jump, smash and slapshot the discs. New characters Max and Grace join the regulars from the first game Wessel and Mita in the short trailer.
Some fans are not sold on the new artstyle, which looks a bit off at times. This is marked as alpha footage, so here’s hoping developers DotEmu continues to improve on the little snippet we see here.
Windjammers 2 does not have a release date yet, but it will be out on PC and Nintendo Switch.
