GTA V, the popular (and hugely profitable) 2013 open-world game from Rockstar, is coming to next-gen consoles.
Revealed in the PS5 livestream this morning, GTA V on next-gen consoles will boast “technical improvements, visual upgrades and enhancements” making use of the power of next-gen consoles.
In addition, a standalone version of GTA Online (the multiplayer component included in GTA V) will also be available. Rockstar confirms that there will GTA Online content exclusive to the new consoles and PC. So PS4 and Xbox One versions of GTA Online will be left behind at some point, similar to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.
This standalone version of GTA Online will be free for PS Plus subscribers for the first three months of launch.
In addition, PS Plus subscribers can get 1 million GTA$ monthly just by logging in the game on PS4. This will continue until GTA V launches on PS5.
GTA V and the standalone release of GTA Online will be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X in the second half of 2021.
