Grid (2019) Will Have You Race Against Fernando Alonso And His Esports Team

"Fernando is faster than you"

A new Grid is coming out this September. Codemasters’ tarmac racer series will see you racing in various disciplines across four continents of the world – one more extra than the previous games’ trifecta of USA, Europe and Japan.

And who better to embody the spirit of cross-discipline these days than two-time Formula One World Champion, Le Mans 24hr winner and “Stock Racing” competitor Fernando Alonso. He is the race consultant for Grid (2019) and will appear in-game alongside his esports team – FA Racing.

Apparently, there will be a showdown event where you have to take down Alonso in his 2006 Renault R26 F1 car, which he won his last F1 title in. So prepare for a boss fight.

(Side note, the classic F1 car is also appearing in F1 2019 as well, also developed by Codemasters)

Alonso has been dabbling with multiple racing disciplines this year- a pretty successful campaign in the World Endurance Championship and an Indy 500 campaign that ended earlier than expected. Still, having a multi-talented racer as part of the game where it’s all about juggling between multiple disciplines is a good fit.

Grid (2019), like other Grids before it, will feature many different car classes (GT, Touring, Stock, Muscle, Super-Modified and more). There are also various race types (Circuit, Street Racing, Ovals, Hot Laps, Point-to-Point, World Time Attack and more).

Realistic car damage that impacts handling and performance will play a part as you grind wheels against the other racers, though hitting too much will have them become your nemesis. Yes, there’s a nemesis system, a new inclusion for the sequel.

Grid (2019) will be out on September 13th for the PS4, PC (Steam) and Xbox One.
