Grid (2019) Gets New Gameplay Trailer Focusing On Dirty, Aggressive Racing
The new Grid game, which we are dubbing as Grid (2019), announced a delay a few weeks back, which will see it released in October.
But hey, at least we got some new gameplay trailer, have a look:
The trailer showcases the many racing disciplines on offer, from street racing to GT racing and even oval racing. All of them featuring some wheel-to-wheel rubbing action.
The accompanying blog post here confirms the return of Sepang- Malaysia’s main circuit for international racing and formerly hosted F1 races. Codemasters made a big deal when Sepang was first added in Grid Autosport, so it’s good the franchise is keeping the first of many Hermann Tilke-design grand prix circuits.
The “brand new chapter in the story of Grid”, or “a game to reset expectations” (i.e. basically a soft reboot) is focusing on the on-track battles you’ll be facing. The AI drivers are all named and have different personalities- a callback to the original Grid. And yes, Grid (2019) has a nemesis system where you can forge rivalries for battling hard against the AI.
If you find the current crop of sim racers to clinical and boring, Grid maybe something for you- there’s no 5-second penalties being dished out here, it’s all crazy races, both on single-player and multiplayer.
Grid (2019) will be out on October 12th for the PS4, PC (Steam) and Xbox One. It will also be a launch title for Stadia.
