Gran Turismo Sport is adding some new content next week, and it involves the game’s “Maestro”, six-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
The Lewis Hamilton Time Trial Challenge is a series of 10 challenges where you have to beat the goal time. Lewis himself will be offering some tips, from ghost replays set by himself, tips on how to tackle each course and even the occasional voice quips based on your performance. Similar to past Gran Turismos, like when Jeff Gordon coaches you on Nascar racing.
The ghost settings are a bit more fleshed out. You can reset the ghost for each circuit sector, so if the ghost is too fast, you get to see the racing line he takes for the next sector. Heck, you can even put an offset time so the ghost of Lewis Hamilton will always be within your range.
The tracks for the Lewis Hamilton Time Trial Challenge are a mix of real-tracks and fictional tracks where are:
• Dragon Trail – Seaside
• Autodromo Lago Maggiore – GP
• Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit
• Willow Springs International Raceway: Big Willow
• Suzuka Circuit
• Autodromo Nazionale Monza
• Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit
• Autódromo de Interlagos
• Nürburgring GP
• Nürburgring Nordschleife
Completing the challenges will award you in-game credits. Clearing all 10 of them at gold will increase the credits cap- from 20 million to 100 million. Completing even harder challenges will unlock cars with special livery as design by Lewis Hamilton’s “Project 44” team.
The catch? It’s paid DLC. Gran Turismo Sport has been avoiding any paid DLC- all cars and tracks are added for free so far. Though there have been microtransactions where you can buy cars with real money. And now content can come in paid DLC form it looks like.
This content is perfect for the top drivers or those that are willing to put in the time to improve your driving skills. The novelty of beating an F1 driver’s personal best time is also cool. But for everyone else? Maybe not so. At least we have been blessed with content related to the Maestro since that one video feature.
The Lewis Hamilton Time Trial Challenge DLC for Gran Turismo Sport will be out on November 28th.
