Goat Simulator 3 (Not Goat Simulator 2) Announced

Baa? Coffee Stain Studios, the developers known for the silly, goofy, janky but ultimately fun sandbox title Goat Simulator (and also still-in-Early-Access factory builder Satisfactory) is getting a sequel.

No, this is not a trailer of the possibly dead-in-development game Dead Island 2.

Announced at the Summer Game Fest 2022 show is… Goat Simulator 3? Yeah, for no reason other than Satisfactory might be secretly the Goat Simulator 2 game, the developers decided to go straight to number 3.

Goat Simulator 3 will continue to provide a sandbox for you to express yourself as Pilgor the goat, alongside three friends. Local and online co-op with up to four players are supported so you can cause even more chaos, or compete against each other in mini-games, as usual goats do?

The key features as been described on the Epic Games Store should give you an idea of what kind of game Goat Simulator 3 is:

  • You can be a goat
  • Three of your friends can be goats too, and join you in local or online co-op
  • No really, there are so many goats. If you want to be fancy you can wear the skins of tall goats, stripey goats, and many more. There’s a goat for everyone!
  • Or dress up your goat in all kinds of nonsense, from toilet rolls to tea trays. Put on a jetpack for all we care
  • This time we actually hired ‘game designers’ and we’re told they’ve added ‘an ok amount of content’; events, NPCs to mess with, physics, status effects, collectables, easter eggs, lies, betrayal, heartbreak
  • They’ve added mini-games too, lots of mini-games (seven is a lot, right?)
  • Who said anything about a musical?
  • You can be Keanu Ree… (jk, wanted to check you were still reading)
  • But you can be a goldfish (true story)

The original Goat Simulator was released at a time when parodies of overly-serious simulator games were funny and in the early days of gaming videos on sites like YouTube. Is Goat Simulator 3 goated with the sauce or not, or in other terms, capture an audience with its brand of zany humour and comedy, we have to wait and see.

Goat Simulator 3 is coming to PlayStation, Xbox and PC via the Epic Games Store. No release date has been given yet.
