Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon series celebrates its 25th anniversary, and Ubisoft has prepared some gifts for players to celebrate.
First, Ubisoft has released a new mission for Ghost Recon Wildlands, the second-latest Ghost Recon title. Ghost Recon Wildlands: Last Rites is a new standalone mission “set in a darker, more oppressive Bolivia” where a region of it is controlled by a fanatical cult. As Ghosts, players will be hunting down this cult’s leader.
Last Rites is developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux.
The new free DLC comes along a free current-gen upgrade for console versions of Ghost Recon Wildlands, originally released for PS4 and Xbox One. The game will now run at 60 FPS with visual upgrades when played on a PS5 or Xbox Series consoles, from improved distance rendering, enhanced lighting and shadows and visuals targeting 4K resolution.
It’s been so long that this isn’t being dubbed a “free next-gen upgrade,” like most PS5/Xbox Series upgrades for PS4/Xbox One games. We’re more than halfway through the 9th generation of console’s life cycle at this point, but better late than never.
Ghost Recon Wildlands has also been updated to feature more gameplay settings so you can adjust how immersive you want with your open world tactical shooter featuring special ops soldiers in tacticool gear. From limiting HUD elements to toggling weapon restriction and friendly fire.
Plus, the Predator event, yes that Predator, is now live again in Ghost Recon Wildlands.

The next gift for the Ghost Recon 25th anniversary celebration is a whole game. Ghost Recon Future Soldier, the title the preceded Wildlands, is available for free to claim and keep through Ubisoft Connect from August 6-13.
Play Ghost Recon Wildlands And Ghost Recon Breakpoint Free This Weekend
From August 6-10, players can play Ghost Recon Wildlands and Ghost Recon Breakpoint (the latest game in the series) for free. Grab a friend or three and venture into enemy territory as foreign military soldiers taking out a foreign threat.
Ghost Recon Insider Program Launched
And lastly, the celebration isn’t just to remember the past. Ubisoft is seeking players to join the Ghost Recon Insider Program “for a chance to help build the next Ghost Recon.”
That’s a soft confirmation that at the very least Ubisoft is tinkering with the idea of a new game in the series, but it will probably a long while before it goes into full production if this is all the teaser we’re getting.
