Ghost Of Tsushima – Three Good Techniques To Get In The Early Game

Ghost Of Tsushima is out now and hopefully, you enjoy the open-world samurai action as much as our review described it.

The game feature multiple skill trees and techniques (skills) to unlock. Here’s our recommendation of three of the most useful to pick up early in the game.

Iron Will

If you’ve been defeated in a fight, you might have noticed the long pause it takes for Jin to properly die and respawn. This is actually a timing window to a Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice comeback mechanic. Iron Will requires two technique points to unlock, but it’s worth the investment in the early game. Being able to get back on your feet (at the cost of two Resolve) means a second chance to get those Mongols. Or run away.

The drawback is that you have little to no health when you use Iron Will, which can lead to you dying again, for real this time. If you have extra Resolve after that, you can quickly heal.

Later on, there are charms that will give you more health once you’re on your feet using Iron Will, and there are ways to increase max Resolve, which means more Resolve stocks to revive and heal your way back into battle.

Safe Landing

You can take fall damage in Ghost Of Tsushima. But with this technique, you can hit circle right before reaching the ground to roll and avoid damage.

It’s handy when traversing the world really quick, especially in Izuhara where there’s plenty of steep cliffs that can be fatal if you fall off them without doing the Safe Landing roll.

Also, you can mash circle to better guarantee Jin getting the roll done. And also, this doesn’t mean you can jump over any height and live through it. So you still need to be careful.

Wind Of Vanity

Ghost Of Tsushima’s Guiding Wind is a nifty waypoint system that will guide you to point of interests like quests and major locations. But there are techniques that allows you to use the Guiding Wind to pinpoint specific undiscovered locations.

We argue that Wind Of Vanity gives the most bang-for-buck. It will point you to the nearest cosmetic unlock which are unmarked on the map. The thing is, it also points you to other points of interest like the Pillar Of Honors and Haiku spots, which are marked places and also have cosmetic unlocks.

Wind Of Vanity will point you to more locations in total than the rest. So if you want to play as a wandering samurai, slowly uncovering the world map at your own pace, it’s a great get for the early game. It’s not good if you want to get stronger early with more practical unlocks the other exploration techniques have, however.

These are mere suggestions, and you can play whatever you want. Though we highly recommend you getting these techniques early to help out in Jin’s journey his land a much better experience.
