Forget Fallout, The Outer Worlds Is Out Now

Today is a busy launch day with three big games now available. For you RPG fans, there’s The Outer Worlds.

Obsidian’s latest first-person RPG channels the energy of Fallout New Vegas, with the creators of Fallout 1 and 2 in the directors’ seat.

Set in the corporate-controlled lands of Halcyon in the far-flung side of know space, you play as whatever role you want. Save the townspeople from the corporate overlords, side with the capitalist regime or do your own thing by operating in-between the two shades?

The Outer Worlds feature aspects of RPG the more recent Fallouts have moved away from- more than four choices of dialogue in any given conversation and skill checks that lead to opportunities for certain character specs. There’s also a more fleshed-out companion system, more akin to Mass Effect.

With Mass Effect going dormant and Fallout 76 doing nothing to make people take it seriously, if you crave for a western RPG, this is the best choice right now.

The Outer Worlds is out now on the PS4, PC (Epic Games Store, Windows Store) and Xbox One. It is also available on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC.
