First Two Rounds Of McLaren’s World’s Fastest Gamer Competition Detailed

Car manufacturer and racing team McLaren has started their first venture into esports with a one-of-a-kind competition. The World’s Fastest Gamer is aimed to seek out the one gamer that is fast across various racing games for the opportunity to work as McLaren’s official sim driver with a one-year contract. The initial announcement was light on details on what games were pat of the competition, but now we have info on the first two.

The first game to feature is Forza Motorsport 6. This round of competition, under the name of the CJ Wilson Racing 570 Challenge, will be a five-round championship. Players will race in the McLaren 570 Coupe in GT4 spec. Qualifiers are open and will commence on July 3. The top selection of fastest players will then participate in the five rounds of races that will commence in the following date and track:

Round 1, July 11: Daytona – Sports Car Circuit (10 laps)
Round 2, July 25: Sebring – Full Circuit (8 laps)
Round 3, August 8: Road America – Full Circuit (8 laps)
Round 4, August 22: Sonoma – Full Circuit (10 laps)
Round 5, August 29: Road Atlanta – Full Circuit (12 laps)

The winner of the championship will get a spot in the actual World’s Fastest Game event. Registration can be done here.

The second game, rFactor 2, follows a similar format. Called the Silverstone esports Championship, an open qualifier will narrow down the list to the top 20 players in which they will race in a four round championship in a yet unspecified McLaren GT car. The following are the four rounds for rFactor 2:

Round 1, August 13: Silverstone GP
Round 2, August 20: Zandvoort
Round 3, August 27: Silverstone International
Round 4, September 3: Silverstone National

The winner here will also getting a spot in the actual event later this year. Registration can be done here when it opens on August 1.

Two more games have yet to be revealed, with one likely a mobile title. The four winners from each game will join by six other players, specifically hand-picked by a panel of gaming and motorsports experts. These 10 player will then go through various training and more competition by racing in various games before a winner is crowned.
