Fires At Midnight Is A New Visual Novel With Mature Themes Made In Malaysia

Fancy a new visual novel? Persona Theory Games, an indie developer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has just released a new visual novel today, Fires At Midnight.

Fires At Midnight follows the struggles of the couple of Jun and Chitra set in 1999 where “in a world where making love without the feeling of love will make you spontaneously combust, a couple struggles to stay together.”

We don’t know if the quoted description of the game is meant to be taken literally or figuratively. In any case, Fires At Midnight explore mature themes, which includes “sexual imagery, drug use, alcohol, suicide and sexual assault triggers.”

Players will take on the role of Jun, the photographer coping with balancing his life and his commitment to Chitra. And later swap roles to Chitra, seeing her side of the story.

Fires At Midnight features choices to make that impact the story, with multiple endings.

The game is out today on PC via Steam (for RM28 – RM23.24 until July 17) and Itch.io.
