Far Cry 5 Gets A Next-Gen Update With 60fps Support On PS5, Xbox Series X|S

Far Cry 5, the Far Cry before Far Cry 6, has now received a new update specifically for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles- the gen-9 consoles for those that keep count.

The new update adds native 60fps support to the current generation of consoles.

Plus, the Xbox versions also get a resolution bump with the update as well. The Xbox Series S now runs Far Cry 5 at 1080p, while Xbox Series X can run the game at 4K resolution. The PS5 will remain the same as before, running at a dynamic resolution of 2880×1620.

Far Cry 5 is also having a free weekend next week. From March 23-27, you can play the game on any platform (PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S). The full main game is available, and it will go on sale at 85% off should you wish to purchase and continue playing, with all progression carrying over.

The new update and free weekend offer are to coincide Far Cry 5’s fifth anniversary. The game takes place in the fictional locale of Hope County, Montanna, where you must take down a group of cultists.
