F1 Manager 2022 To Feature Motion-Capture Animation, Including Pit Stops

The latest dev diary video for Frontier’s upcoming F1 Manager 2022 takes a look at the commitment the developers are going for to provide an authentic presentation of the motorsport. This time we are walked through the motion capture process.

Professional motion capture performers are tasked to only don tight suits with strategically placed balls on them, but also having to perform celebrations and even pit stops.

For the pit stops, Frontier managed to have BWT Alpine F1 involved in the process. Frontier captured the team doing a pit stop procedure with a real F1 car (using an older spec car, of course) and then recreated that in the motion capture studio, using a real F1 car there as well.

F1 Manager 2022 tasks you in the seat of a Team Principal, the head honcho of one of the ten teams competing in what is often referred to as “the pinnacle of motorsport”. While at its heart this is a game about looking at spreadsheets and making decisions based on data, Frontier is making sure that when you are not too immersed in the data, the things you see and hear around the paddock come race weekend will be something you expect from a real-life broadcast. This game not only 3D scanned the current 20 Formula 1 drivers, but also will be using archived audio clips of their voice (as well as the engineers).

F1 Manager 2022 is releasing on August 30 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
