At EVO 2019, Arc System Works announced that tag-team anime fighter Blazblue Cross Tag Battle will be getting a version 2.0 update. This free update will be mostly focused on balance changes for each of the existing characters.
But that’s not all. The version 2.0 update will also be getting a “Ver. 2.0 expansion pack” which will add nine more characters, including two from another franchise-. This brings the list of crossover IPs in BBTAG to seven.
The first four has been revealed are as follows:
- Yumi, Senran Kagura Estival Versus
- Akatsuki (Akatsuki Blitzkampf)
- Blitztank (Akatsuki Blitzkampf)
- Neo Politan (RWBY)
We’ve seen speculations via data mining that the Senran Kagura franchise is coming over since last year, so now that’s real. Fans of Rooster Teeth’s animated series will now get more than just the leading four ladies of RWBY as we’re getting the popular villain in her earlier seasons guise.
And the other two? Akatsuki is also a guest character for UNIEL before, so his inclusion makes sense. He comes from a fighting game with a very particular source of inspiration for its aesthetics. In case the title “Akatsuki Blitzkampf” has not given that away.
Also, the other character from Akatasuki Blitzkampf is a literal tank. Yes, you can now fight as a tank.
These four, plus five more characters, will be dropping as paid DLC in November 21st. The 2.0 update is free for all players.
Blazblue Cross Tag Battle is out now on the PS4, PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.
