The whole England has been chanting “It’s coming home” for some time in the hopes of their World Cup run this year bears fruit. Interestingly enough it’s the esports side of things are the ones to see results.
The Overwatch League’s first season saw London Spitfire victorious, and now you can one more win coming home: Evo 2018’s Street Fighter V.
For Mousesports’ Problem X, Evo 2018 was his time to shine. His M. Bison proved strong all weekend, reaching the Winner’s side of the Grand Finals.
The rest of the top 8 is a great mix of talents. Sure, there is still the many strong Japanese players but each region of the Capcom Pro Tour has a representative. From the Americas we had Caba from Dominican Republic and Cool Kid, the sole American that also made a shocking run. From Europe, accompanying Problem X from the UK is France’s Luffy, the former Evo champion. Fujimura, Gachikun, Fuudo and last year’s winner Tokido represented Asia and Japan.
Tokido almost repeated his fabulous run through the losers bracket as seen last year. after dropping to the losers side after losing to Fuudo, he clawed back match after match taking down many hopefuls- including a winning a rematch against Fuudo- to reach the Grand Finals.
And @tokidoki77 hits the reset in Grand Finals. Will he repeat at #EVO2018 or can @MrProblemX bring it home?! pic.twitter.com/p3OnmXusNk

But Problem X managed to seal the deal. It did looked like Tokido’s Akuma play proved too much to handle, snatching the game one round away from Problem X winning to cause a bracket reset. But Problem X found his footing again, sliding and throwing his opponent for the win.
Problem X’s win makes him the second European to be crowned an Evo champion of Street Fighter and major points for the Capcom Pro Tour.

The top 8 at Evo 2018 for Street Fighter V is as follows:
1. mouz|Problem-X (M. Bison, Abigail)
2. FOX|Tokido (Akuma)
3. CYG.BST|Fuudo (R. Mika)
4. gachikun (Rashid)
5. Fudoh|Fujimura (Ibuki)
5. BJKE.RB|Luffy (R. Mika)
7. RISE|Caba (Guile)

Meanwhile, Malaysian top player IAmChuan also scored his strongest Evo finish yet. After winning back-to-back the SEA CPT Online tournaments and now signed under Atlas Bear, Chuan landed just outside of the top 32, finishing at 33rd place. He is tied with many others including Alex Valle, Infiltration, Dogura, Smug and Bonchan. Not too shabby for the Malaysian.
