Endless Legend 2 won’t be ready for Early Access release just yet, as publisher Hooded Horse and developer Amplitude have announced a delay.
Previously scheduled to release on August 2, it’s now moved to September 22. That’s seven weeks added to the development clock.
The delay is done “to ensure the game’s early access launch is as strong as it can be,” the two companies stated in a press release. Player onboarding (tutorials), language localisation (Hooded Horse is really good supporting a bunch of languages in all its published titles from the get-go) as well as polish and “player momentum in the early portions of the game” are being worked on further thanks to the delay.
“We’ve made the tough call to take a bit more time before releasing Endless Legend 2 in Early Access,” said Amplitude CEO and co-founder Romain de Waubert de Genlis. “The feedback we’ve received through the Insiders Program has been incredibly valuable, and we want to make the most of it. Taking this extra time means we can keep refining the game and make sure we’re delivering the best possible experience to players on September 22.”
The good news is, around the time when Endless Legend 2 would have its Early Access release, early August, a free demo will be available. What will be included in the demo, and what sort of limitations it would have have yet to be announced. But at least there’s something to look forward still in August.
Endless Legend 2 is the sequel to the asymmetric 4X strategy game. The original 2012 title is famous for pushing how far a playable faction can be differentiated beyond bonuses and buffs as most prolific players in the subgenre has done. The sequel is set on a new planet featuring new and familiar factions.
Endless Legend 2 will now be released in Early Access on September 22 on PC.
