FromSoftware’s latest action RPG Elden Ring is about to celebrate its 1st year anniversary and it already hit a major milestone, it sold more than 20 million copies.
Self-published in Japan and published by Bandai Namco in the rest of the world, we now know just how big of a hit From Soft’s latest iteration of a soulslike (is it a soulslike if it’s by the actual developers that made the Souls games?).
As a reference point, Sony’s biggest title of last year, God Of War Ragnarok, has sold 11 million copies as of early this month. Though the game came out months after Elden Ring- so it’s not a fair comparison time-wise- but should serve as context on how big the numbers mean.
Elden Ring is highly regarded as the game of 2022 (though not us here at Gamer Matters, for reasons).
FromSoftware will be taking a break from its desolate world of ruin and jumping back into the mecha-action series with Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon, expected to release sometime this year.
Elden Ring is available on PS4, PS5, PC via Steam, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
