Take back your heart. Dragon’s Dogma is an action RPG from Capcom led by the one of the designers behind the Devil May Cry series. Its combat is more action-oriented (you can climb on monsters) than your average RPG, but it has all the elements of a classic fantasy medieval setting. In case you missed the PS3 and Xbox 360 release years ago (and don’t prefer to play it on PC, which was released last year) the game will be out for the current generation of consoles.
No proper release date was revealed but it is expected to be out this fall (September-December).
It’s a fun action RPG. The variety in combat, as well as the unique Pawn system that lets you customise your own AI companion and having them available online is worth checking out if you haven’t played it yet. The release will also contain the Dark Arisen DLC that not only adds content, but improved some systems like the addition of a fast travel system. Though it had to replace the ludicrous menu theme that was a J-Rock song.
This marks the fifth anniversary of the series which already has an MMO game, Dragon’s Dogma Online, available in Japan. Capcom continuing to re-release the game may seem like a cashgrab move, but it could also be a move to build up interest for a sequel or another game within the universe. That should be something to look forward to if it happens.
