Disco Elysium: The Final Cut Will Include “Political Vision Quests”

Disco Elysium is a game about being a detective in a surreal world. It’s also a game that boldly explores many political ideas, and let your protagonist embrace them as their core value.

And if you love that aspect of the game, Disco Elysium: The Final Cut will add something for you: Political vision quests.

In an interview with Push Square, ZA/UM’s writer Justin Keenan revealed them as “four mutually exclusive quests, one keyed to each of the game’s four major ideological alignments”.

For those that don’t know, the four political alignments explored in Disco Elysium are Communism, Fascism, Moralism and Ultraliberal.

“By design, these quests won’t have a major bearing on the game’s main storyline,” Keenan explained. “Really, these quests are meant to give players the chance to bring some of the story’s ideological themes to a satisfying conclusion and explore what’s really going on behind the political posturing that the protagonist sometimes likes to engage in.”

While not affecting the main thrust of the game, the political vision quests are all unique. Some introduces you to new characters, new items and even some permanent changes to the UI and the world.

These quests were cut from the original game, but with the Final Cut coming to consoles (and as a free update on PC), you can now explore more of whatever political alignment you have chosen in these new quests.

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut will arrive in March 2021 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG), Stadia and on iOS. It will be coming to Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S later in summer 2021.
