Dirt 5 Adds Cross-Play, Red Bull And More Playgrounds Options In Latest Free Update

A new update to off-road racer Dirt 5 has arrived for all players. Cross-platform play is now available on all PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms (Steam and Microsoft Store), with Stadia joining cross-play later this year.

However, this comes in the form of cross-platform matchmaking. As in, online lobbies, should you opt-in for cross-play, will be more populated with players from other platforms. No cross-platform parties yet.

If you’re a fan of the energy drink brand (that are also building racing car engines in the near future), there are now eight new Red Bull liveries available. The Porsche 911 RGT will be sporting the Red Bull esports livery.

The Audi S1 EKS RX quattro, Mini John Cooper Work Buggy by X-raid, Peugeot 3008 DKR Maxi, and Volkswagen Race Touareg 3 gets the usual blue Red Bull colours. While the Peugeot 208 WRX will get three different Red Bull liveries, two of which are from the real drives of Timmy and Kevin Hansen in the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

Playgrounds, the Trackmania-like track builder mode, gets new content too. You can now set the location with more weather options (wet and stormy weather). And the real-life Red Bull arch can now be placed too.

Lastly, ghost lap time options are now added to Time Trial and Gate Crasher events, a community-requested feature alongside cross-play.

There are a few technical fixes as well, which you can find in the ever-updating patch notes page for Dirt 5 here, on Update 4.03/Red Bull Revolution Update.

The free update should be live later today.
