Fans have been waiting for this for so long, and now it’s here. Vergil, the smooth blue oni opposite to the brash Dante, will be a playable character in Devil May Cry 5.
This was revealed alongside the announcement of Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition.
Special Edition includes all previous DLCs (Digital Deluxe upgrade, EX Colours). Though the main highlight is that Vergil will be the 4th playable character.
For those not motivated to upgrade to the new consoles soon, Vergil will also be offered as a paid DLC for PS4, PC and Xbox One.
Fans have datamined, and later modded Vergil to be a playable character on PC for a while now, but now we will get the official release of him.
Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition a new Turbo Mode (game speed up by 20%), Legendary Dark Knight mode (enemy count drastically increased in hordes), and ray-tracing graphics enhancements for next-gen consoles. DMC 5 SE can be played at 4K 30fps, 1080p 60fps or 120fps with ray-tracing off on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Also, this ray-tracing breakdown is actually a pretty good layman explanation of what this new tech does and how it makes Devil May Cry 5 look prettier.
Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will launch digitally on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on console launch, November 19 and November 10 respectively. No free next-gen upgrade for this one, unfortunately.
