Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion Still Has Mechs, Sort Of

A pair of new trailers for Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion have just dropped. The new action game by Marvelous and Marvelous First Studio reveals Heavy Armor and the Fusion system.

The previous reveal of Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion showed that Arsenals have now shrinked from being big giant robots into a sleek exosuit. But here comes the Heavy Armor, another Arsenal suit that you can pilot. These can only be summoned after a call gauge is full, Titanfall-style, and more used as a table-turning trump card to give you an edge when the going gets tough.

That said, Heavy Armor can be customised with different parts, colours and decals, like a regular Arsenal from the original Daemon X Machina. The short trailer reveals quite the arsenal the Heavy Armor can pack, from hover mechs with folding legs which turns it into a jet fighter to robust melee attacks to ridiculous laser beams.

Titanic Scion still has a little bit of that Armored Core DNA in it, after all.

Meanwhile, the Fusion system sounds like the developers exploring the on-foot character customisation which the original game didn’t do much with into something worth investing. Enemies will drop Immortal Factors, which can be used to unlock new skills. The cost? Your humanity. You won’t be a cyborg this time, as Titanic Scion’s Fusion system will turn you into something more alien as you accrue more skills. This should add more depth in customising the player character, where the action is now primarily on-foot this time around.

Marvelous also announced that Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion will be present at Gamescom 2025 from August 20-24. Attendees can experience a hands-on demo of the game at Marvelous Europe’s booth.

With development led by Kenichiro Tsukuda (Armored Core 2, Armored Core 3, Daemon X Machina) and mechanical designs by Shoji Kawamori, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion is straying away from its Armored Core roots (now that Armored Core is back) with a new take on dark sci-fi action.

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion will be out on September 5 for the PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
