Crunchyroll, the anime streaming service has now launched its own video game offerings for its premium members.
Crunchyroll subscribers at the Mega and Fan and Ultimate Fan now have access to the Crunchyroll Game Vault, a growing library of premium (no ads, no in-app purchases) mobile games. This is available in more than 200 countries around the world, including subscribers in Southeast Asia.
The Crunchyroll Game Vault is now launched with five titles on offer on Android, with availability to iOS coming soon. The games are as follows:
- Behind The Frame: The Finest Scenery
- Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions
- Inbento
- River City Girls
- Wolfstride
Of the five, the most high-profile title is River City Girls, developed by WayForward. This is the beat-’em-up game’s mobile debut, and is exclusive to Crunchyroll Game Vault.
Expect more games being added here to be either based on anime or anime-inspired.
Crunchyroll is following the business model Netflix has set, as the content streaming service also now includes access to premium mobile games.
Crunchyroll Mega Fan subscriptions in Malaysia is RM11 a month, or RM110 a year. If you already are a subscriber, the five games available here is a nice added benefit to the service you are paying, but let’s wait and see how the Game Vault grows over time and see if it can entice gamers who are anime fans, rather than just anime fans that happens to be gamers.
