Control Resonant Announced, Features Character Action Melee

The sequel to Control isn’t called Control 2 anymore, at least not this one, as Remedy revealed Control Resonant at the 2025 The Game Awards.

Control Resonant will see players take control of Dylan Faden, brother to Control’s Jesse Faden who previously took control of the Federal Bureau of Control in Control.

Why? Well, as those mysterious beings that emits noise and slightly unsettling subtitles says to Dylan: “<THE SIBLING HAS GONE ROGUE/FISHING>.” Charming as usual.

While Jesse wielded a shape-shifting gun (Service Gun) in the previous game, Dylan wields the Aberrant, a shape-shifting melee weapon. Control Resonant isn’t a shooter, the combat here looks straight out of a character action game with dashes, air combos, launchers and other cool melee actions.

Also interestingly, Dylan won’t be traversing the same brutalist rooms and hallways his sister (and the brave folks in FBC: Firebreak) do. Control Resonant takes place in “multiple areas of Manhattan.” That’s not to say it’s real Manhattan, in that the world can still shape-shift and change in all manners that don’t make gravitational sense, as well as glowing all menacing red, like the Oldest House was in Control. But at least it’s not the same drab rooms and corridors as the previous game.

In short, expect spooky, paranormal things to still happen in this thriller of an action-RPG.

Unlike the first game, Control Resonant will be self-published by Remedy themselves. While initially set to be published by 505 Games, Remedy has bought out the publisher. The game is co-financed and co-produced by Annapurna Pictures, the parent company of indie publishing label Annapurna Interactive.

Also unlike the first game, Control Resonant will be coming to Steam as well as on the Epic Games Store when it releases, rather than locked to an exclusivity window on Epic.

Control Resonant will be out sometime in 2026 for the PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Mac (Steam, Apple App Store) and Xbox Series X|S.
