Rainbow Six Extraction, the new name for Rainbow Six Quarantine, has got the big reveal it promised at Ubisoft Forward 2021. The tactical shooter series (and now more known as a multiplayer shooter) is going back to PvE single-player and co-op play with this entry. Which involves aliens.
Remember that one Rainbow Six Siege event where a parasite was found in New Mexico? The story for Extraction is based on that same premise. The Chimera parasite has reappeared across the US. Team Rainbow has now formed the Rainbow Exogenous Analysis & Containment Team (REACT) to tackle this threat.
Players from Siege will be glad to know the operators from the game are characters in Extraction. Ash, Mira, Thermite and Hibana is featured in the cinematic reveal.
18 operators will be playable in Extraction, each with their own loadout of gear, weapons, gadgets and abilities. If you own Siege and buy Extraction when it launches, you will get access to all the 18 operators across the two games.
The extraction team of three players will be exploring four different regions that make up the 12 different maps, each uniquely designed to offer different challenges. There’s a hint of Left 4 Dead in there but built with the foundations of Rainbow Six Siege’s solid mechanics.
Also, Extraction will feature cross-play and cross-save on all platforms. Whatever platform you switch to, your progression can carry over, and everyone can play together.
If you’re not tired of co-op horde shooters, or just want the closest thing to a Rainbow Six tactical shooter like the games before Siege, Extraction looks to fit the bill. Rainbow Six Extraction will be out on September 16 on PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
