Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: Gathering Storm is the second expansion pack for the 4X strategy game that will add climate change, a diplomacy victory via the World Congress and more changes to the planet either through nature or civilisation.
It will also be adding eight new civs. The first of which has been revealed, Hungary.
New to the series, Hungary thrives when they have cities by the river. The “Pearl of the Danube” civ ability allows district or building made across rivers are built faster. It also has the thermal bath unique building, replacing zoos that adds bonus amenities and production. It also has more bonus should a Geothermal Fissure be within the city with a thermal bath.
Hungary also has the Huszár, an Industrial Era light cavalry, with added combat bonus based on how many alliances you have.
Hungary’s abilities, paired with its leader Matthias Corvinus, have plenty of bonus for making friends to conquer the world for domination victory. Cornivus’ unique ability, The Raven King, levied units from city-states gain more movement, more combat strength and you can upgrade them for free. Hungary also sends two envoys to the city-state which it levied troops from, cementing the ties closer.
Cornivus also has another unique unit, the Black Army, that gains more strength by having levied units adjacent.
Hungary under Cornivus is a powerhouse built to control the rivers, make friends via alliances or good relations with city-states. Having many city-state friends should help you win the numbers game when you are out conquering other civs that wish not to be your friend. At least, that’s how it should be played at first glance.
Civilization VI: Gathering Storm will be coming out on February 14th, 2019 on PC (February 15th for Malaysia).
